Thermoverse

Insight into the future of resident relationships in the metaverse community

Timeline: Sep 2022 - Apr 2023

Thesis Project

Tool: Unity, Blender, C#, Mixamo

The project digitizes thermal traces on physical seats, creating intimate data sharing, exploring unique expressions, abstractions, and bonds without physical presence. It sparks discussions about the future of resident relationships in the metaverse community, reimagining the balance between closeness and danger, respect and threat, openness and vulnerability in the digital era. The virtual chairs offer a groundbreaking platform for novel forms of communication and interaction between people in virtual reality, paving the way for a new era of social interaction.

Overview

Thermoverse offers insights into the nature of potential relationships in the digital age, inspiring explorations of human connection by capturing and visualizing subtle interactions through lingering biodata within a community, redefining relationships and connections in the digital age.

Research

The community chairs offer a groundbreaking platform for novel forms of communication and interaction between people with different kinds of relationships. In the researching pics, it augments the thermal energy people left during the communication.

Explores the concept of human biodata as a reduced form of the physical body, a form of body data abstraction and representation, a presence of liveness, and an aesthetic non-binary form.

While developing chair settings into virtual world, it paves the way for a new era of social interaction.

How might we redefine body data as a digitized representation and abstraction?

How might we perceive data beyond human capabilities?

Experiment interactions among residents in both physical and virtual worlds based on shared context and population density.

  • Seats as the main object of exploration

  • Will explore additional possibilities for experimentation with different places and objects.
